American Royal World Series of BBQ: 2019
Looking back: Join us as we recap last year’s American Royal. We look forward to returning to events in 2021!
The American Royal World Series of BBQ is the largest and most prestigious BBQ competition in the world. More than 500 BBQ Masters from around the world descend upon Kansas City to vie for the title of Grand Champion in a variety of events. A non-profit organization, the American Royal uses proceeds from the event to provide opportunities for competition, scholarships, and agriculture education to youth and adults from across the country. Fun for the whole family is packed into one weekend, and 2019 marked the 40th year of the event.
Over the past few years, FireBoard Labs has joined forces with long time friends of FireBoard, Burnt Finger BBQ. Founders Jason and Megan Day are no strangers to the World Series of BBQ; they have been in the top 10 overall in the World Series of BBQ in 2017, Side Dish Overall Runner up in 2016, BBQ Sauce Reserve Champion in 2011, and BBQ Seasoning Reserve Champion in 2019. Burnt Finger BBQ keeps track of all their temps with their FireBoards. (Check out Jason’s review of the FBX11 here)
FireBoard Labs and the Days hosted a cookout to kick off the 2019 event. Family, friends, and customers were welcome, with incredible Burnt Finger BBQ and a few pork butts by FireBoard’s own Ted Conrad and Steven Briggeman on the menu. Delicious food and great company made for a truly memorable experience.
While Burnt Finger BBQ was preparing their entries for the Open Competition, the FireBoard team got to chat with more customers, other BBQ teams, and members of the BBQ Community. They were also able to showcase the new Yoder S Line with a YS480s and YS640s Competition Grill from Yoder Smokers.
With the integration into the S-Series of grills, Yoder brought the innovative technology of FireBoard to the Pellet Smoker line. Consumers are now able to monitor their food and smoker temps from their smartphone, tablet, or computer through the FireBoard App.
For the final day of the vent, Burnt Finger BBQ went into full competition mode. FireBoard is proud to support such an incredible team.
