Company News, Meet the Team
FireBoard Newsletter: February 2025
Late last week, FireBoard CEO Ted Conrad hosted an all-hands meeting—an opportunity for every department to share updates on projects and achievements, as well as welcome new team members. It’s no secret that near the end of 2024, our small team was pushed to the limit: with the launch of the FireBoard Pulse wireless meat thermometer last summer and the surge of holiday orders, our team of fewer than twenty was tested. During that time, we brought on several new production and fulfillment team members, and as of this month, we’ve added a new Purchasing Analyst to help maintain our growing systems.
At the meeting, Ted started with the usual round of introductions before highlighting one defining aspect of our company: FireBoard is a bootstrapped business. In other words, we’ve never taken outside funding to operate. That’s fairly common for small businesses, but it’s rare in the tech world—where funding often takes center stage. However, at FireBoard, we’ve always focused on doing things in-house and reinvesting our revenue back into the company.
Ted acknowledged that this isn’t the “grow fast” approach, but instead a slower, steadier, organic growth approach. The company was born from the idea that smart technology can simplify some of life’s everyday challenges and that by committing to that vision, you can build something truly unique.
Speaking of uniqueness, our office manager Wendy Jones received a well-deserved shoutout for her dedication and tenacity these past few months. If you’ve ever exchanged support tickets with her, you know how invaluable she is to our team.
Ted also thanked our production team—both veteran and new members—for their hard work ensuring Christmas orders went out on time. Our operations manager, Jennifer, followed up with an update on current trajectories and deadlines for outgoing units. As usual, the targets are ambitious yet achievable, especially with our additional hands on deck.

Our lead software engineer, Tyler, shared some news about recent firmware fixes, new additions, and other features in development. He kept the technical details light, which the non-engineers in the room certainly appreciated.
Finally, our director of product design and development, Paul Skelton, teased a few updates about our product roadmap. While most of it remains under wraps, we can reveal one exciting detail: The FireBoard Bridge—a proposed signal repeater to boost connectivity between FireBoard products—is being reimagined. Instead of releasing it as a standalone product, we’re now considering a broader solution that incorporates this functionality into something bigger down the road. Stay tuned for more on that!

Taken as a whole, this all-hands meeting was a fantastic way to kick off the new year: we have new faces, new goals, and new products on the horizon. Keep an eye on our social media and emails in the coming months—there’s a lot more in store than we can mention here!
